Joulukuu, December, is “Christmas Moon” – given how ancient most of these words are this didn’t make sense to me. I later learned that when the Finns converted to Christianity they didn’t bother to change the name of the celebration from Yule to Christmas even though it is now translated as such. It is the twelfth piece in my Finnish Moon Series.
